VINCA major

'Greater Periwinkle'. A rampant species with shortly ascending shoots which later lengthen and trail along the ground, rooting only at their tips. Leaves ovate, 2.5-7.5cm long, dark glossy green and ciliate. Flowers bright blue, 4cm across, borne in the leaf axils, produces continuously from late April to June. An excellent shrub for covering soils.(8-9)
